I am often asked, “Why do they call you Krazy Kris?”
Well, first of all, it wasn’t a “they” – it was a me. It was a split second decision in the early days of twitter to come up with a handle. I was dancing at the time, and a group of us discovered that we could group text via twitter when and where the dancing was happening. So I became @Krazy_Kris for the purpose of sharing dance hot spots with my friends. Krazy Kris seemed fun and quirky; it’s definitely me.
First of all, I’m not dangerous krazy – you need not be afraid.
I’m the kind of krazy that celebrates my own humanness – tripping in public, daily blunders, losing my keys, killing plants, running out of gas, burning food – the list goes on and on.
You see, I SHOULD know better – that’s the krazy thing. I’m an educated, capable, award-winning, professional woman. I SHOULD know how to eat breakfast, water a garden, keep track of my belongings, not be slave to email, cook a meal, not be a slob….
But I don’t. Or at least, my track record isn’t too swift.
I’ve slowly lost sight of aligning my time with my values. And despite all of my skills and education, I’m woefully incapable of certain basic tasks. That’s krazy, right?
My BF+ commented, “I’m not an expert, but do you really want people to know you as Krazy Kris?”
And most pros would agree – brand yourself, brand your name.
But the thing is, I’m very, VERY fond of Krazy Kris – I just lurve her. And people that I care about love her to. They get it. They get me. Quite frankly, if someone doesn’t respect me because of my twitter handle, then so be it. Chances are we wouldn’t connect well anyway.
The great thing about getting older is settling into our true selves – drool and all…. I don’t want to be anyone else. Period.
So now you know the rest of the story – the background behind Krazy Kris – the fallible yet courageous heroine of the Heart and Humor of Being Human.
