Of course any tribute to 1967 MUST include White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane. It may seem a bit cliche, but sorry – this is an amazing tune.
Released in 1967, Surrealistic Pillow was Jefferson Airplane’s first album with Grace Slick. White Rabbit and Somebody to Love were both written by Slick and, in my opinion, are the definitive tunes from the Summer of Love.
One other thing.
SHE CAN SING!
I was a little surprised to see it ranked as #483 of Rolling Stone’s top 500 songs. Really? Nothin’ But a G Thang is ranked higher with their panel of 165 experts? They should have asked me.

PS. What is a surrealistic pillow anyway?
Clearly, I haven’t had any of those pills she sings about, so I don’t get it.
What do you think is the
most representative song from 1967?

1967!? I was too young to remember! But in the car on our road trip we did listen to classic rock and then 70s rock. My husband chose the latter for some reason. It was a trip down memory lane.

Yes, i was too young too – but when I got older I bused out the LP’s. Yes – music soooooo defines the chapters in our lives, eh? Thanks Karen!
HA! I wish I could say! I wasn’t alive then! But you do inspire me to go back and revisit some music that has eluded me so far.
LOL I was barely alive then – ha! I was born during the summer of love, so that music has always been special to me – plus the parents had the albums LOL. The 8 track days are clearly in my memory tho LOL
