Brand New Day

Today’s the day. The Meathead Movers are coming.

On this brand new day I will say good by to my little bungalow — my precious little gem that I bought all by myself as a single mom. It’s the home where I raised my son and danced with him in the living room. It’s the home where I learned to grow herbs, clipped fragrant Cecil Brunner rose blooms every summer, and enjoyed the rain on the porch with a lovely cup of coffee.

Today’s brand new day means I will sleep at the farm.

OUR farm.

The one that the BF+ and I bought together and will be starting our new lives, creating new memories, and embarking on this new chapter.

I didn’t realize that my real farmer friends thought I’d literally bought a farm – that is how I’ve referred to it – apparently my <sarcasm font> did not read well on Facebook.

Our humble little rambler is on a half acre, a separate building with pole-like construction (ergo the barn), and has a dirt road. Sounds like a farm to me, right? But just to be clear, it’s not a real farm.

Some might think that this went very quickly. Yes, the house part went quickly. But considering the BF+ and I have been together for 15 years, well….

I can tell you that we needed every one of those days to settle into ourselves, to know and accept each other, and to realize that we will never be with anyone else.  And there is no one else that we’d rather be with.

So here’s to our Brand New Day :: Sting

I’m the rhythm in your tune
I’m the sun and you’re the moon
I’m the bat and you’re the cave
You’re the beach and I’m the wave…
We’re starting up a brand new day

  1. I love that you call it a farm. :) Alex has said in the past, “We could never live on a ranch because you’d name all the animals and hug them every day.” He speaks truth. ;)

Yes… the critters I think would make it a farm. But there is a cat lurking around… I’m thinking the BF+ may deem “it” the barn kitty LOL

  2. I loved this Kris – from the beautiful & eloquent writing of your first home & all that you did there to the new adventure! LOVE!
