We thought we wouldn’t need a new stove. But upon closer inspection, it became clear that if we didn’t want to live on frozen dinners, we were going to have to take the plunge.
It was not an easy fix — moving gas lines, cutting cabinets, cutting counters. It was messy! Plus the newfangled models are pretty darn pricey. cha CHING
But here she is – our Frigidaire Professional.

Isn’t she beautiful? And to think I didn’t even know what a continuous grate was before I met her.
And a bread warmer? I haven’t used it yet, but I sleep better knowing that I can.
It also has this fancy burner with a gazillion BTU’s of heat. It allows me to boil water in about the amount of time it takes to send a few tweets (which is always a good thing because it seems I’m always behind in the kitchen).

So you all know I’m a nervous wreck in the kitchen, but I’m feeling a bit more confident with this grownup range. Between the range and some new knives, I think I’m approaching nearly competent.
I’ve made my first risotto, fried my first polenta, baked my first flourless brownies, roasted my first brussel sprouts (mmmm), tried and succeeded with tempeh, and sauteed lots of veggies.

That’s not to say there hasn’t been some kitchen conflict. There has. But those juicy details will have to wait for another day.
For now I will say that I’m digging our sexy little stove – I’m almost feeling ready to don my cool apron from The Hip Hostess.

weee! she IS pretty. I am looking at new cooktops right now too, and I could not be more excited. our new place has a gas stove, which I have not had for several years.

It’s so funny – cuz when I go into the kitchen, it’s either this song or “Get Off of My Cloud” chiming through my head. Funny little cooking anthems, eh? And YES! The brownies were AMAZING – and from what I can tell, they didn’t even miss the baking powder – ha!

That is gorgeous, hell, I sleep better knowing you have a bread warmer. Ours has a warming drawer, haven’t used it but it’s nice knowing I can if my buns ever need a little warming.

I’m sooooooo glad I can help you sleep better! WARM BUNS! Yes – you MUST need that little drawer in the tundra right? And yes – the aprons are divine! I have two… but I haven’t worn them yet. I’m mustering the confidence though… soon! And you know what? Our dear Kristina has the Hip Hostess aprons too! Gosh – we are all sooooo hip :)

Wow! When you get a new stove you get a new stove! We’ve been in our house almost 3 years now and my husband just realized that our gas burners are different sizes–he didn’t believe me when I asked him why he’d used the little burner to cook his bacon and eggs in his giant frying pan!

that’s funny! I wouldn’t have known if that wasn’t part of the demo – I am definitely not that clever! And believe me, I didn’t set out for this stove – uh….. I’m more of the “buy the package deal for as cheap as you can and finance it for 12 months”. And i did not pay that MSRP on this – no WAY! That said… she does purrrrrrrrr and I’m glad we brought her home :)
WOW! a bread warmer!!! I love bread!!!!! How exciting to have a real nice stove like that! I am not a great cook but I would find a way to use it with all those goodies! So – not hesitant in the kitchen but just know my limits! ;-)

Nice stove. I tried to buy an upgraded stove a couple years ago when our kurplunked, but it didn’t fit in the space by 1/2 inch. Sux. but I don’t have the money right now to upgrade the whole kitchen. haha.
